I enjoyed this book about the Vedas. There is a lot of good information and plenty of quotes to back up the points that the author is making. I felt that the point does get across overall. There are, however, a few forays into what the author interprets the Vedas to mean. For the most part, this doesn't detract from the message. In fact, I appreciated some of the more modern interpretations. I just felt that maybe somebody else wouldn't take the interpretation quite as well as I did. It's a good book and a good introduction to the Vedic literature.

This author, Stephen Knapp also offers other books (in English). Understandable, clear and stays on topic. I recommend all 3 in this series !

This is a great book for those who want to know more about Eastern religions and how they view God. I found it extremely informative. Would recommend it to anyone with an open mind and a search for their own God.

I could not put the book down although some terminology was difficult. Makes you think about the realms beyond our planet!!!

Amazing

The worst book I have ever read on Vedic philosophy. The answers it gives are fundamentalist, very shallow and simplistic. For instance, why do we exist? The answer given in the book is: Because There is a lord, Krishna, if there were no one else in this world, there wouldn't be any meaning because there would be no human to overlord. Really? And this is just one example. The book is full of nonsense like this. I know the rich Vedic philosophy has much more meaningful answers than those. Maybe the author should take a look at the writings of Shankara (I know he doesn't like Shankara because, you know, fundamentalism) or Yoga Vasistha.Waste of money.

Not a good choice, unless you are a highly conservative, fundamentalist practitioner of Hinduism. Full of "wages of sin are..." stuff. Very little love to be seen among the "punishing god" writings here. So narrow-minded is the author that he even disparages Advaita Vendata, which is a very legitimate school within the Hindu tradition. Describes India's greatest 20th century saint, Ramana Maharshi, who was an Advaita sage/teacher as teaching "Shaivism"; not clear if due to ignorance or confusion. In some of his other writings, Mr. Knapp also criticizes Shankara for corrupting Hinduism (Shankara is generally considered as historically the most famous teacher of Advaita). Preaches horrible punishments to anyone who is not a vegetarian. Does not seem to feel that any other branch of Hinduism, much less any other religion, has any redeeming merit. The author is a vociferous advocate of, literally, a "personal god," which most Westerners studying Eastern spiritual traditions are not interested in, since they most likely would have stayed being Christians if they felt that that a "personal god" resonated with them (I will note for interest that even Joseph Campbell explicitly told a priest who was asking him about beliefs that he does not believe in a personal god). I felt dirty and sullied upon reading the book; it lowered my vibration, instead of raising it. If you would like an open-hearted and loving discourse on Hinduism, I would recommend instead "Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi."Namaste.

First, I already bought 2 other books on this subject from Amazon and was sorely disappointed. But, I still needed the info so I tried again. BINGO!!!!What a great book! Wonderful back story on the importance of being ready for that unexpected occurrence in your life that would normally wipe out an unprepared family and force you on the dependency rolls. No thanks! I am too proud for that so I will be ready.After all the education up front about calories per person, types of food and how they are stored, etc, Daisy takes you step by step through using your existing budget to create your food storage.This is not a canning book! She is teaching you how much and how to collect food for storage.Some things, you may already know...being the non-wasteful readers that you probably already are. But, being able to catch the sale cycles was something I did not know. I have never been a couponer, but there are plenty of handy tips on how to get the most bang for your buck for food items.Also, since she is very concerned (as am I) about BIG CORPORATION's processed foods and the non-nutrition they contain, she explains the ins and outs of organic. Super!I highly recommend this book.(and also her website and FB page!)

Just finished reading this book, I highlighted everything I wanted to work on for later. I am just getting started in the prepping world, don't know why I never thought of doing this before. It makes so much sense to have a stockpile of everything that you use on a day to day basis. All of her tips and years of experience makes this a valuable purchase for anyone who wants to start out making their own stockpile. I did have to customize the foods for my own gluten free diet. I found out it's not as hard as I thought to have a food supply that is clean without gmos, pesticides, and additives. It is affordable if you follow her plan and the foods you would eat every day of the week anyway. It is nice to get everything together in one book instead of spending countless hours on the internet looking all this stuff up. I do use the internet for a lot of my research projects but there are only so many hours in the day you have to get it all done. So this is saving me a lot of time. I purchased The Organic Canner also and can't wait to start on that. I recommend this book for anyone who is a newbie to the world of food preservation and prepping. You won't lend this book out to anyone once you have it.

This book is a MUST HAVE for anyone who has a need or desire to have a Home Store - whether you want to be prepared for life's unexpected circumstances, you live in the country away from the convenience of having local stores available or you frequently have unexpected guests. Daisy writes clearly, with humor, personal experience, and easy to follow instructions to make this overwhelming task as easy as eating an elephant - One bite at a time!! She includes lists and recipes for anyone starting out.I found it so helpful that I bought extras for my daughters. Highly recommended!!

Another garbage college textbook. The text is dry and it is written as if the authors were paid by page. Often the book would present an illustration or a diagram and then spend an entire page just describing only part of that said illustration and diagram. If you don't need this book for a class then its better to not buy it. Absolute convoluted mess. I'm just glad I was able to rent this rather than the rip off price.

The paperback version is a LOT less expensive than the hard cover version. I bought this book for a graduate course, and I have learned so much. The material is understandable. Make sure you read all the blue and yellow sections! The review questions at the end of each chapter are very helpful as well.

I purchased this book for an AIS course. It is an okay book - there is a LOT of vocabulary, and can sometimes feel like information overload. Also, the graphics might be helpful for visual learners, but I wish it broke them down a bit better for verbal learners. I think this may just be the nature of the subject.

For a book on Information Systems, I would have expected the examples on accounting functions to be more up-to-date with current business practices rather than the archaic processes that were included.Unfortunately, my instructor taught "by the book" and I was forced to relearn all the old ways of doing things such as forgoing using a lockbox for receiving cash and having two people in the mail room open the checks and manually write a deposit slip. Who has time for that?Have the authors of this book not heard of process improvement, automation, Six Sigma? Trust me, the companies out there certainly have and that's what employees' success is judged against.Teaching college students who have never worked in an Accounting Dept a process that hasn't been used in years is doing them a disservice. The Universities should expect current version textbooks to actually be updated with current business practices and then teach current business practices. Challenge themselves to actually produce graduates who won't feel behind the curve when they're out looking for a job up against those who have work experience. Put them ahead of the curve by teaching them Best Practice for their field. What a concept. It starts with truly up-to-date textbooks.

I would not have purchased this book if it wasn't for a class that I am taking. It is written so a student is able to understand it and it has great examples.
